About

As your cycling develops, so does your body. Essentially your body adapts to the stress you apply to it. So to improve at something, you must apply some sort of stress. Some people chose to stress their digestive system with Big Macs. Cyclists tend to ride in some sort of uncomfortable position feeling that it is just part of the sport. This does not mean that you should avoid putting stress on your body, but rather you should minimize the extremes of stress. The secret to minimizing the extremes of stress is the modification of one’s positioning on the bicycle. You need to address the entire body, reducing pressure points and stress loads. This must be based on each individual’s flexibility, strength, core stability, and injury history in combination with their goals as it relates to cycling and life in general.

So whether you are going to do the Seattle to Portland for the first time or need time trial positioning for your next triathlon, or just want to safely commute, avoid the pitfalls that others have already gone through and get fitted.

As a physical therapist and a bike shop owner, I am in a unique position to assess your body and your bike. I can assess, repair and adjust your bike equal to any shop and can assess and treat your body in the same fashion. Tools for each may vary as hopefully your body will not need a bottom bracket facing nor will your bike need stretching and strengthening. So to get the most out of your cycling experience, rely on my experience to help guide you in the right direction.
